When the Truth Really is Out ThereSo, what does a paranoid conspiracy theorist that has been kicked out of almost every "notably established" chronicle to the oddities within the natural world, a kid that seems to have dreams about being abducted by aliens, the theft of a small atomic device that could destroy a city block, and the revelation that aliens that can simply be termed "Stickmen" in such a short review exist have in common? Well, they are the glue that hold this story, which is a fast-paced read through an armada of strange happenstance that interconnect in many a weird way, together. The book keeps the reader reading on, wondering exactly how things are going to fit together and what outcome the book is working toward. Personally, this is what I liked about the book because I knew and yet didn't know, and was kept guessing throughout much of the story that, despite its quickened pace, kept me reading onward until the ending.
For those who haven't read Edward Lee, I would state that this isn't what I have atypically found him producing. There were a few lightweight murders that coated the pages in red, but most of the book is about the mysterious things going on and the subsequent chase leading to the end of the extraterrestrial rainbow. Still, I wouldn't expect all of his books to approach life this way and would recommend looking into each of them individually for content before thinking that he is a lightweight in the gore department. For those who have read Lee and like his style, I thought that the little barbs of humor and the approach were here, and that this was a worthy read in the realms that have, in the past, disappointed me. You simply have to be in the mood for the subject matter because, unlike many of his more terrestrial horrors, this ranges in the Science Fiction category to me.
An amusing read from the author of Bighead

SPECIAL FRUIT DRINKS FOR EVERYONE...JUST PLAIN GOOD!
The speciality of the Church life is an uncompromising absoluteness concerning the common faith or those beliefs that all genuine Christians hold to be true. (i.e. the deity of Christ, the innerancy of the Bible, the death and resurrection of Christ, etc.). This is followed by the generality of the Church life, which calls for a general and open-minded attitude toward the beliefs and practices of other genuine Christian who also adhere to the common faith but whose beliefs and practices may differ from one's own. The justification for the allowance of such divergent views in these issues stems from the necessity of maintaining the oneness of the Body of Christ. Paul's attitude with respect to the "esteeming of one day above another" in the book of Romans is an example that epitomizes this principle of generality. Such a seemingly open-ended and unbridled allowance for variance in Christian practice must however be mitigated by the practicality of the Church life which calls for only those practices that are espoused by the Bible, history and personal experience as the most conducive for achieving the greatest spiritual growth in the life of the believer and the Church.
For anyone seeking clarity on what kind of view a believer ought to have with respect to the Church at large and more specifically what the Bible delineates as a proper local church, this is an excellent book. I was helped greatly in these two matters.
